Go-ahead for special school

The Board of Management of St Anne's Special School in Roscrea has received conditional planning permission for a major extension of the school.

At 1,362 square metres, the new single-storey extension beside the existing school building is to comprise of six classrooms, a library, clinical and sensory rooms, ancillary support spaces and a courtyard play space.

The plan also includes an extension to the existing boiler room, an accessible covered set-down area, new parking layout, a new wastewater treatment system and all associated site works.

Opened in 1971, St Anne’s is presently home to 49 pupils and 38 staff.
