Great creativity in Borrisokane

A fine display of skill, creativity and community spirit was on show at Borrisokane Library on Tuesday, March 24, when Borrisokane Men’s Shed held a well‑attended wood carving exhibition.

The exhibition presented a varied and eye‑catching selection of carved wooden figures, many inspired by animals and nature. Speaking at the exhibition, Eoin Costello, Community Education Facilitator with Tipperary ETB, praised the quality of the work and the wider value of initiatives such as Men’s Sheds.

He added: “What stands out here is not just the standard of craftsmanship, but the sense of pride and connection behind every piece,” he said. “Spaces like Borrisokane Men’s Shed play a vital role in supporting learning, creativity and wellbeing, while also strengthening community ties.”

The carvings were arranged on display tables throughout the library, creating a welcoming focal point that drew interest from regular library users and visitors alike. The exhibition highlighted the Men’s Shed as a place where skills are shared, friendships are built and creativity is encouraged in a relaxed and supportive environment. Appreciation was expressed to Noirín Duggan of Borrisokane Library for hosting the event and supporting local community initiatives.
