Update on Paralympics Ireland’s Use of X
Paralympics Ireland has made the decision to discontinue posting on X (formerly Twitter).
Paralympics Ireland regularly reviews how and where it communicates online to ensure its digital channels continue to reflect the values of the organisation and the Paralympic Movement.
As part of a recent review, Paralympics Ireland has made the decision to discontinue posting on X (formerly Twitter). This reflects a considered assessment of how the platform is currently performing in the areas of meaningful engagement, audience connection and positive discussion.
The organisation has identified that its resources and focus are better directed towards platforms that consistently offer a constructive environment for athletes, supporters, partners and staff, and that support clear, reliable and respectful communication.
Paralympics Ireland will continue to actively engage with audiences across its other established digital channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and the Paralympics Ireland website (www.paralympics.ie).
The organisation will also continue to explore emerging platforms that align with its communications objectives, including Bluesky at @paralympicsireland.bsky.social.
Paralympics Ireland remains open to reviewing its approach to all digital platforms including X, in the future, in line with changes to user experience, moderation practices and audience behaviour.
Supporters are encouraged to stay connected through Paralympics Ireland’s official channels for the latest news, updates and athlete stories.
