Tipperary’s Pat Guilfoyle targets second Laurels title with Magical On Fire

Tipperary will be well represented in this weekend’s Bar One Racing Irish Greyhound Laurels Final at Curraheen Park, as renowned trainer Pat Guilfoyle sends out his talented charge Magical On Fire in pursuit of the €30,000 top prize.

Based in Cloughjordan, Guilfoyle is no stranger to Laurels success, having captured the prestigious title in 2022 with Good Cody. Now, just three years later, he returns to the classic final with another major contender.

Magical On Fire booked his place in Saturday night’s decider after finishing runner-up to the in-form Ballymac Setanta in the semi-finals. Showing his trademark determination the Tipperary-trained runner once again demonstrated why he’s regarded as one of the most consistent greyhounds in training.

The final draw for the Bar One Racing Irish Greyhound Laurels is as follows:

1.Solo And Go

2.Ballymac Brandan

3.Ballymac Setanta

4.Magical On Fire

5.Trionas Tribe

6.Lemon Joey (M)

Gates open at 6.00pm, with the action broadcast live on Virgin Media 3 from 9.00pm to 10.00pm.

Pat Guilfoyle won this event with Good Cody in 2022, and I am sure that for them it would be very special to bring the trophy back to Tipperary.”

The Bar One Racing Irish Greyhound Laurels Final takes place this Saturday night at Curraheen Park, where Magical On Fire will look to continue Tipperary’s proud tradition of success on the national stage.
