Launch of MacGowan tour brochure

Shane’s most treasured places

Fans of the legendary Shane MacGowan are invited to take a deeply personal journey through the places and stories that inspired one of Ireland’s most iconic songwriters, as the Shane MacGowan Tour Brochure is officially launched at this year’s Broad Majestic Shannon Festival in Kilbarron.

Taking place in Kilbarron village on September 13 and 14, the festival will culminate in the launch of the brochure next Sunday at 3.45pm, offering fans an intimate glimpse into Shane’s Tipperary roots and creative influences.

Curated with original materials generously shared by Shane's sister Siobhán MacGowan and his wife Victoria Mary Clarke, the brochure maps out a heartfelt tour of some of Shane’s most treasured places in Tipperary - landscapes, pubs, and tranquil corners that served as the backdrop to his life and lyrics.

Accompanied by a specially selected playlist, the tour allows visitors to travel seamlessly from one cherished location to the next, with Shane's music setting the tone along the way.

“This is more than a tour - it's a celebration of Shane’s deep love for Tipperary and the spirit of the people and places that shaped him,” said festival organisers. “We hope this journey brings joy to his many fans and offers a new way to experience his legacy.”

Whether you're a long-time fan of The Pogues or discovering Shane’s music for the first time, the tour invites you to walk the roads he loved and hear the stories behind the songs.
