Great display of ploughing

60th anniversary of North Tipperary championships

The North Tipperary Ploughing Championships reached a significant milestone last Sunday on reaching its 60th anniversary. This represented six decades of hard work, dedication, and positive impact by the members and volunteers.

Participants showcased their ability to plough a plot with precision and efficiency, the weather was perfect, the site was top class and the contestants as well as the spectators came out in droves.

Not for the first time, the organisers came up with an excellent site, the fertility of the land owned by the Swan family, Cloughjordan, by kind permission met with an overwhelming nod of approval.

The organising committee were thrilled by the numbers of participants who travelled from East Cork, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly and further afield making up over 40 in total. It was indeed a fine display in celebrating 60 years of turning the sod in North Tipperary.
