Interesting history talks in Nenagh

Two interesting history talks will take place in Nenagh next Monday, April 4th.

The popular series of history talks by John Flannery, 'Talking History at Steeples', resumes at Steeples, O'Rahilly St, on April 4th. The first in the current series is a topical piece - 'Out of the Foggy Dew: 1916 Explored'. This talk will trace the background to the 1916 Rising, the forces which drove it, the events of that fateful week 100 years ago, and its aftermath in our history. Starting time is 11am in the Belfry room overheard Steeples.

Then at 8.30pm, John McGinley will discuss the subject of Irish workhouses, including the one in Nenagh, at the Abbey Court Hotel. This is the latest lecture in the current series from the Ormond Historical Society.
