March art exhibition at Nenagh Library

Nenagh Library will host an exhibition of paintings by Mary Redfern and Mary Flanagan, Maeve Ryan, and Elaine Carey for the month of March.
The collection presents a mixture of paintings and drawings. All four first met at painting classes given by Henry Morgan. After the classes finished, the quartet continued to meet on a weekly basis to paint and chat.
Mary Redfern commented that they draw inspiration “from life in general, our surroundings and nature. For all four of us, painting is our passion, it challenges, relaxes and intrigues us. We each have individual styles and subject interests.”
Mary Flanagan, who lives in Carrigatoher, studied graphic design in Limerick School of Art & Design and her main subject interest is flowers. She paints in acrylics and also uses pencil and pastels.
Maeve Ryan lives in Killaloe and enjoys painting as a hobby with the picture house painters, who she says are a real inspiration for her. Mary Redfern lives in Cappamore and also has a wide subject range – deriving most of her inspiration from nature and wildlife.
Elaine Carey is the fourth artist making up this varied artistic team and is also creatively influenced by the world around her. Each artist’s distinct style will be apparent to anyone who comes to view the collection, which will be on display until the end of March.
