Works on Scohaboy walkway
Work has commenced to replace the walkway at Scohaboy Bog after a long delay. Funding for the work was secured by Coillte from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.
The old timber sleepers from the walkway have been gathered for a helicopter lift and removal.
This way of removing the sleepers will minimise the impact on the unique regenerating vegetation as Scohaboy is a Special Area of Conservation with international importance. It is expected that the walkway will be reopened this month.
