‘When Justice is Not Enough’
The latest novel by Newport author Pat McLoughlin, ‘Retribution – When Justice is Not Enough’, was recently launched, at Longcourt House Hotel, Newcastle West by Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Patrick O’Donovan.
Addressing a packed audience, the minister delivered a striking and heartfelt speech inspired by the book’s themes.
He reflected on Ireland’s own unresolved social injustices, noting that before criticising other nations, we must continue to confront the darker chapters of our own past.
The event saw an enthusiastic turnout for Pat McLoughlin, whose supporters filled the venue. Publisher Dominic Taylor spoke about the mission of the Community Publishing Project and proudly announced that McLoughlin’s novel marks the 223rd title published since 2008 – achieved entirely without external funding.
Musical entertainment was provided by Brian Hartnett, whose performance was warmly received.
In a refreshing departure from the usual launch format, actor Johnny Corkery delivered a dynamic reading of the novel’s opening chapter, offering attendees a vivid first encounter with the story.
‘Retribution – When Justice is Not Enough’ is published by Savoy Editions, the literary fiction imprint of the Limerick Writers Centre. The book is available locally at Ryan’s Bookshop, Nenagh; Daybreak, Newport; O’Mahony’s Bookshop and online through the Limerick Writers Centre website.
The profits from the book will be donated to charity.
