Nenagh company is Tipp’s top SME

Nenagh-based Chartered Capital Financial Planning Ltd has been named Best SME at the County Tipperary Chamber Business Awards 2026, marking a major milestone for the financial planning firm.

Presented before more than 420 guests at Hotel Minella in Clonmel, the award recognises businesses making an outstanding contribution to employment, innovation, customer service, and economic development across County Tipperary.

For Chartered Capital, the recognition highlights a business model built around professional financial planning, personalised service, and long-term client relationships. Founded in Nenagh in 2020 by Diarmuid Corcoran, Chartered Capital has grown into one of Ireland's leading financial planning firms, helping individuals and business owners make informed decisions about their financial futures. The firm advises clients on pensions, investments, retirement planning, inheritance tax planning, and financial protection.

Raised in Templederry, Diarmuid lives in Newtown with his wife Naomi and their three sons. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional, Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), and Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA). Alongside serving as an active committee member for the Nenagh Chamber of Commerce, he is the current Chairperson of Financial Planners Ireland (FPI).

As the voice and community for the country's CFP® professionals, FPI is dedicated to promoting the profession, sharing international best practice, and providing education and support for a nationwide network of financial planners. Diarmuid’s roles reflect a commitment not only to Chartered Capital’s clients but also to the continued development of the local business community and the wider financial planning sector.

Supported by Senior Financial Planner Róisín White from Clare, the firm benefits from her expertise as a Chartered Accountant (ACA), Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) and Specialist Investment Adviser (SIA). She is also working towards full CFP® certification.

The Best SME Award reflects the firm's growth, driven heavily by significant investments in technology and automation. By reducing administrative workloads, the team can devote more time to what matters most: providing responsive, personal service to help clients achieve their financial goals.

Chief Administrative Officer Catherine Ahern, a Lorrha native now based in Portroe, is a Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) who undertakes ongoing training in compliance and AI to support the firm’s responsible and compliant use of emerging technologies. Client Experience Administrator Tanya Bourke is developing her career in customer service and events management and was recently shortlisted for Client Experience Manager of the Year at the national Client Experience Awards. Recent addition Adam Carroll first joined Chartered Capital as an Associate Intern during the summer. After showing strong potential, he was supported in progressing to Financial Planning Associate – Digital Transformation and is now studying towards his QFA qualifications while completing a Bsc in Finance at UCC.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT RECOGNITION

This latest accolade follows Chartered Capital's recognition for Training and Development at the 2025 awards. Together, the two titles chart the progress of a firm seamlessly combining professional expertise with a fiercely client-focused culture.

Although Chartered Capital serves clients throughout Ireland and beyond, its roots remain firmly in Nenagh. Bringing the award back to the town reinforces the firm's place among the ambitious businesses demonstrating what can be achieved from regional Ireland.

Rather than viewing the Best SME title as a finish line, the Chartered Capital team sees it as recognition of the foundations already in place, and an incentive to continue investing in its people, technology, and client experience for the next stage of its development.
