Progress on Latteragh road project

Tipperary Co Council has advertised its intention to close the R498 Nenagh-Thurles road at Latteragh, where a major realignment project has reportedly reached the half-way stage.

The 4.3km project is on target for completion in the first quarter of 2027. Costing in excess of €30 million, the project’s features include a shared footway/cycle track, three improved junctions, and two single-span bridge crossings over the Nenagh River.

The council intends to close the R498 at the realignment works site from Monday, November 2 to Friday, November 20. Traffic travelling south will be diverted at Ballinamona Cross via the R499 (Toomevara), R445 (Moneygall), N62 (Roscrea and Templemore) and R501 to Borrisoleigh; vice versa for traffic travelling north, which will be diverted in Borrisoleigh village. Diversion routes will be fully signed.
