Lidl coming to Killaloe?

Supermarket giant, Lidl, intends applying to Clare County Council for planning permission for a store in Shantraud, Killaloe.

The proposed site will have access from both the Hill Road beyond Clarecare, and the parallel road by Reilig Lua, and is located in what was the old hurling field in Killaloe, an area also zoned for residential development.

The twin towns of Ballina and Killaloe have seen major increases in population over the last decade. In the 2022 Census, the population of Killaloe was 1,666, and Ballina population was 3,199. Next year’s census will most likely see a further increase in these figures.
