PREMIER DIVISION
Fairview Rangers 2-1 Nenagh AFC
Nenagh AFC pushed champions Fairview Rangers all the way at the Fairgreen last Wednesday before eventually going down 2-1 in a closely fought Premier League encounter.
The home side took the lead after just four minutes when Oleg Vysochan found the net, but Nenagh responded strongly and remained well in the contest.
They doubled their advantage ten minutes into the second half, Vysochan scoring his second of the evening.
Nenagh continued to battle and were rewarded with twenty minutes remaining when a direct ball forward caused confusion in the Fairview defence and Dan O’Meara produced a fine lob over the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
The visitors pushed for an equaliser and both sides had big chances in an exciting finish. There was very little between the teams and the game could have gone either way but Fairview held on to claim the points.
