New greenhouse hub
Rathcabbin Tidy Towns were delighted to officially open their greenhouse hub recently. This was an ambitious two-year project.
The hub includes a greenhouse, a steel storage shed and an outdoor growing area. The greenhouse enables the group to grow the village flowers and they are all about biodiversity and suitable flowers to attract the bees. The greenhouse is also used to grow plants for their annual fundraising plant sale which takes place every May. This in turn funds further enhancements throughout the village. Their chairperson Finnoula Kennedy thanked all funders including Tipperary County Council and Community Foundation Ireland.
The Pastoral Council were also thanked for their kind donation of the land which made space for this project to come to life, and she also thanked all their volunteers and everyone who supports their fundraising efforts. “This area ensures a work base for Rathcabbin's Tidy Towns volunteers and any CE scheme participant in the village for years to come,” she said. Then Fr Tom O’Halloran was on hand to bless the project and the people in attendance. The lovely sunny evening brought people out where they enjoyed the chat and the cuppa in a relaxed atmosphere. A great achievement for a small community. Well done to all involved.
