Public consultation on Tipp bus service
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has today launched a public consultation on the Clonmel town bus services. The consultation, which runs until 5pm on Monday, October 5, is seeking feedback from passengers, residents, businesses and other stakeholders to help inform potential future improvements to the network.
The Clonmel town bus service was introduced by the NTA in December 2023 and is operated by TFI Local Link Tipperary. The network consists of three routes, CL1, CL2 and CL9, providing connections between residential areas, employment locations, Tipperary University Hospital and Clonmel town centre.
Since its introduction, the network has facilitated upwards of 650,000 passenger journeys, reflecting growing demand for public transport in Clonmel.
The network is complemented by TFI Local Link Waterford Route 356, which provides access to Marlfield, Clonmel Train Station and Oldbridge, enhancing connectivity to the wider Transport for Ireland (TFI) network and providing onward bus and rail links to key destinations including Kilkenny, Dublin City and Dublin Airport.
When the Clonmel town bus services were initially launched, the NTA committed to reviewing the network once the services had become established. As part of this review, the NTA is seeking feedback on how the current services are operating and whether there are opportunities to improve the network to better meet the needs of the local community.
Following the consultation, the NTA will review all submissions received and publish a report on the findings by the end of 2026.
Commenting on the launch of the consultation, John Nott, Head of Service Planning at the NTA, said: "We encourage everyone who uses the Clonmel town bus services, as well as those who may not currently use them, to take part in the consultation. The feedback received will help us understand what is working well and where improvements may be needed to better meet the needs of the community."
