Water main upgrade in Newport

Homes and businesses in Cahir and Foxhall, Newport, are set to benefit from a stronger and more dependable water supply following the completion of water main upgrades by Uisce Éireann.

These improvements are all about supporting everyday life – whether it’s putting the kettle on in the morning, running a local business, or ensuring community services continue to operate smoothly with a clean, reliable water supply.

As part of these works, Uisce Éireann replaced more than 1.6km of ageing water mains with modern, resilient pipes in Foxhall, along with a further 720m of water mains in Cahir. These older pipes had been prone to bursts and leaks, causing supply interruptions and the loss of treated drinking water, a valuable resource. By reducing leakage and water loss, this upgrade will help conserve treated drinking water, which is especially important while the Water Conservation Order remains in place.
