Council launch free e-bike charging facility
Tipperary County Council has launched free e-bike battery charging facilities as part of the ongoing Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) Carrick-on-Suir Regeneration Plan and works in Carrick-on-Suir. Officially launched on June 25, the new facilities are located at Castle Street and support sustainable travel and active transport within the town. More e-bike chargers will be activated in Sean Healy Park in the coming weeks.
The initiative forms part of Tipperary County Council's commitment to creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly town centre. By supporting greater use of e-bikes, the project helps reduce car dependency, lower transport-related carbon emissions, improve local air quality, and encourage healthier travel choices for residents and visitors.
The charging points are available free of charge to e-bike users. To access the facilities, users can obtain a key from any of the following locations:
· Ormond Castle, Castle Park, Carrick-on-Suir, E32 CX59 – Castle Street Chargers Only
· O'K Cycles, New Street, Carrick-on-Suir, E32 WK07
· Town Hall, Civic Offices, New Street, Carrick-on-Suir, E32 YV00
· Autopower Circle K, Clonmel Road, Carrick-on-Suir, E32 FC78 Sean Healy Park Chargers Only
· Blueway Bike Hire, North Quay, Townparks, Carrick-on-Suir, E32 EF44 – Sean Healy Park Chargers Only
A refundable deposit of €10 is required to obtain a key.
Tipperary County Council acknowledges the support of the local businesses and organisations that have agreed to act as keyholders for the charging facilities. Their involvement is helping to make sustainable travel more accessible and convenient for residents and visitors while strengthening community support for climate action and active travel initiatives.
