Tipp twinning with Bulgaria

Tipperary has been twinned with Bulgaria as part of Ireland’s hosting of the EU Presidency.

Each county in the state is ‘paired’ with a specific member state of the EU for the presidency term, which runs from July to December. Ambassadors will participate in a range of public events, including talks at local libraries and visits to schools, as well as engaging with local authorities and local communities through sporting, community, youth and civil society organisations.

At last week’s meeting of Tipperary Co Council, Cllr Máirín McGrath asked if any specific plans have been organised for the county’s twinning with Bulgaria. Director of Services Damien Ginty said discussions are taking place with the Bulgarian embassy in Dublin with a view to organising an event involving a Bulgarian delegation in October.
