It is a wonderful achievement for Chloe and so well deserved in recognition of her hard work and effort over the last few years. It is also a huge for honour her club and her coaches that she will get to wear the jersey for her country.
Newport Town AFC has continued to go from strength to strength in providing opportunity for the young people of the area.
In the 2025/’26 season, the club has almost 500 players from our U7 Nippers all the way up to our Junior A side, training and competing.
The club originated from a discussion between a few people in the pool room at O'Sullivan's Bar in 1970, following which they progressed to enter one team in the Clare League.
Three years later they claimed their first piece of silverware when Newport beat Kilrush in the Clare shield final. It was the first of many awards to come.
The schoolboy section of the club was formed in 1985. The most successful year for the club was 1991, with both the junior team and the schoolboys teams winning two trophies each. Newport Town AFC has a long-standing tradition of serving as a unifying force in the community, promoting the growth and development of sport, soccer and social inclusion in the Newport community.
The excellent club headquarters, Derryleigh Park, which has been developed at a cost of more than €1.5m, is a credit to the members over the decades and the community support for the club.
