Host a Hospice Sunflower Fun Day
Creches and primary schools urged to organise event
North Tipperary Hospice Movement is asking Montessori’s, creches, pre-schools and primary schools from across the region to host a Hospice Sunflower Fun Day this June to raise vital funds to support their services as part of the Hospice Sunflower Days campaign.
It is easy to get involved and help make a difference! Simply select a date in June to host your Hospice Sunflower Fun Day, register on the website, www.sunflowerdays.ie, receive your welcome pack and you’re all set for fun! The welcome pack will include colouring pages and sunflower seeds for the children to enjoy planting during the Fun Day. Families are asked to make a €2 donation on the day, or whatever they can afford, and all funds will go directly your chosen hospice.
The initiative is running as part of Together for Hospice’s Hospice Sunflower Days campaign which is now in its 36th year. Every euro raised locally, stays locally and all funds raised through the Fun Day initiative and the Hospice Sunflower Days campaign will be used to support the delivery of specialist palliative care in hospices as well as palliative home care throughout the country.
Speaking about the initiative, Eileen Kennedy, North Tipperary Hospice Movement, commented: “We are delighted to once again run our Hospice Fun Day initiative as part of our Hospice Sunflower Days campaign. We are calling on as many schools, pre-schools and creches as possible from all across region to get involved and help us make a difference to hospice care in the area.”
Together for Hospice, The National Hospice Movement, represents 24 Hospice and specialist palliative homecare providers supporting patients and their families across Ireland. These services provide free-of-charge care and support to those living with a life-limiting illness, while also offering assistance to the patient’s family members. Hospices nationwide need to raise approximately €20 million each year to provide their patient centred care and as our population ages, demand for specialist hospice and palliative homecare services continues to grow. Fundraised income is used by local hospice services to fund new buildings, refurbishment of existing buildings, staff, extra comforts for patients and their families, and innovative patient care projects nationwide. Funds raised through Togetherfor Hospice campaigns support some of the core services funded by the HSE. That is why fundraisers such as Hospice Sunflower Days are so important to hospices and homecare services throughout the country.
