Silvermines Men’s Shed currently has over 20 members ranging in age from their 30s to their 90s coming together on a weekly basis.

A focus on local Men’s Sheds

Borrisokane Men’s Shed are running a Woodcarving Class on Tuesday afternoons.

The group are currently working on a carved bench, which will be installed in the Town Park next month. Borrisokane Men’s Shed also have Computer Classes on Wednesday afternoons.

They recently completed a module on Home Energy (paying your bills online, switching suppliers, etc) and will soon commence a module on Interacting with State Services online (Revenue, county council, etc).

Nenagh Men’s Shed recently moved to a new premises on Stafford St, opposite Arrabawn creamery.

They are delighted with their new home and are now open for new members. They have a Willow Basket Making Course starting on April 23 and a Woodcarving Course starting April 25. Silvermines Men’s Shed are mid-way through their Woodcarving Course. This is the sixth Woodcarving Course the group have undertaken and many of the members have now refined their skills to a high level.

Roscrea: A new Men’s Shed is in the process of being setup in Roscrea. The shed currently meets on Tuesday mornings in the Muintir na Tíre hall, Chapel Lane, and the group are eager to get more men involved; all are welcome.

Roscrea Men’s Shed are running a First Aid/CPR/Defibrillator course on Thursday April 11 and Thursday, April 25. The course is free of charge but places are limited; call Mike Ryan to register - 087 2226298

Thurles Men's Shed are running an Art Class from Monday, April 8, and running for six weeks. Another class on Basket and Willow Weaving will start on Friday, April 26.

The shed is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 1pm and Tuesday evening from 7 to 9pm. There is no cost to join the classes and membership is free.

There are a large number of other hobbies and interests also catered for.

Moycarky Borris Littleton Men’s Shed (MBLMS) have recently moved into their newly-refurbished room, generously funded by the Community Recognition Fund.

They host history meetings on Mondays and are actively involved in the parish Siúl Eile walking group twice a week. They recently published a booklet on the death of Michael Caudy during the civil war.

They are currently working on a heritage report in collaboration with archaeologist Joanne Hughes and funded by Heritage Keepers.
