Ann Marie Fleming will give a talk on biodiversity at Cabragh Wetlands on April 16.

Biodiversity talk at Cabragh

Back in February the new Biodiversity Officer for County Tipperary was introduced to the members of Tipperary County Council and indeed to the general public.

She is Ann Marie Fleming, who has plenty of ideas in mind in order to implement the work of Biodiversity Officer. Her role is very wide-ranging and includes the promotion, management and co-ordination of biodiversity-related activities in the county. The Biodiversity Officer will play a pivotal role in the preparation and implementation of the County Tipperary Biodiversity Plan 2023- 2029.

Ann Marie will work with local communities, businesses, schools, and all interested stakeholders in raising awareness of biodiversity in the county. She will also be responsible for making funding applications and project delivery in relation to biodiversity. And that’s only part of it! Her role involves a programme of public engagement for biodiversity through field clubs, environmental groups/NGOs, National Heritage Week, summer schools and other public events.

To this end, the Tipperary branch of Birdwatch Ireland have invited Ann Marie to give a talk on her work and biodiversity in general on Tuesday, April 16, in Cabragh Wetlands (E41T266) at 7.30pm.

The importance of protecting habitats and biodiversity cannot be over-emphasised if we are to make serious efforts to tackle the environmental crisis facing our planet. We can all do our little bit and every bit counts. All are welcome the talk. This is a free event. There will be a raffle on the night. The AGM of the branch will be held after the talk. New members are very welcome.
