Former Ireland captain Best coming to Nenagh

Nenagh Ormond RFC are proudly supporting Ireland rugby legend Rory Best in his incredible endurance challenge across Ireland, helping to ensure no child has to face cancer alone.

Rory will walk for over 300km in ten days to raise €2 million, to help cancer fund for children build a therapeutic short break centre for children impacted by cancer and their families.

Rory's walk from the Aviva Stadium in Dublin to the site of this facility, Daisy Lodge, on the shores of Lough Corrib, will see him travelling through Kildare, Laois, Tipperary, Limerick, Clare, Galway and ending in Co. Mayo.

“I’m taking on a mammoth walking challenge in support of Cancer Fund for Children this May”, said Rory of the challenge ahead.

“A childhood cancer diagnosis can impact the whole family. Hospital appointments, treatment and the pressures of navigating this experience can leave a family feeling disconnected and exhausted. Short breaks at Daisy Lodge provide children with cancer a space to rest, time with their families and build connections with others their own age going through the same thing. They get to be treated like the stars they are and that’s why I’m delighted to be doing my bit to help bring another therapeutic facility like this to Co Mayo.”

We want to help Cancer Fund for Children and Rory make this dream a reality which is why we are getting behind the campaign this May.

Rory Best will be staying overnight in Nenagh on Saturday and will begin the latest leg of his walk from Nenagh Ormond RFC in Lisatunny on Sunday, 21st May at 9.45am. All are invited to come along and meet Rory Best and show your support for this fantastic initiative.
