People have responded with remarkable generosity to humanitarian needs in many parts of the world, but now we need to act urgently in support of people in Gaza where a catastrophic humanitarian crisis is unfolding. As of April 23, more than 34,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza. That is more than one in every 100 people. Seven in ten are believed to be women and children. Famine is imminent.

Christian Aid (Ireland) is calling for an immediate ceasefire - ‘without it, we don’t believe a safe humanitarian response, or a sustainable peace is possible.’ Do check out Christian Aid (Ireland)’s webpage for further details of this and other appeals. you can help by supporting Christian Aid!

Parts of the continent of Africa have experienced successive failed rainy seasons over recent years, resulting in some of the worst drought conditions in decades. Millions of people struggling with water shortages, and livestock, on which people rely for both livelihood and sustenance, have died as a result of this drought. Thus, millions of people are also struggling from food shortages. Working through local partners, Christian Aid is helping thousands of people. And, again, you can help by supporting Christian Aid!

Christian Aid was founded in 1945 by British and Irish churches to help refugees after the Second World War. It supported, equipped, and enabled partner churches in mainland Europe to provide what people needed. Over the years, this life-saving work has extended to many other war-torn and drought- and famine-stricken parts of the world – and the problems are not going away any time soon.
