Grow Remote’s mission is to make remote work more visible and accessible in communities across Ireland.

Information event on working remotely in Terryglass

In response to the myriad challenges of the last few years, a small group of Terryglass residents are using remote employment to develop their community. Local residents, Niall Heenan and Robert Foyle hope to build a supportive community for remote workers in their village so they have invited Grow Remote to host a free information session for anyone interested in building a remote career on Saturday, February 18, at 10am-1pm in Terryglass Community Hall.

Grow Remote is a community-based non-profit organisation which promotes the social impact of remote working to employers and employees. A national organisation set up in 2018, it now has thousands of members across Ireland. Through events and an ever-growing network of localised ‘chapters’, Grow Remote has built a unique remote working ecosystem. Local chapters are a great place to connect with other remote workers locally, to help others in your local community find employment, drive the repopulation and economy of your local area and participate locally together.

If you are looking for a new job or are interested in finding out more about remote work, guest facilitator, Dónal Kearney, will explain everything about the fully-funded training programmes available to people in Terryglass and the surrounding area, and will also answer questions about helping people in Tipperary find remote work.

In June 2022, the Grow Remote team came to Terryglass for their team retreat on the invitation of Niall Heenan, a local Terryglass resident.

Mr Heenan said: “As a fully-remote team, the Grow Remote staff may not see each other in person for months on end, so their Terryglass retreat was a big part of their calendar. They rented out the Terryglass Community Hall for two days, ran meetings and workshops, had all their meals in the local restaurant and interacted with members of the local community. It was great to host their corporate retreat in our beautiful village.”

Dónal Kearney, Community Manager of Grow Remote, added: “The local Terryglass community is doing important work to raise awareness of the social impact of remote employment local. We loved visiting here last summer and learning about the fantastic community work being done. This upcoming info session is our first chapter event of 2023 in Tipperary and we just can't wait to meet the local folks again. Grow Remote's mission is to make remote work more visible and accessible in communities across Ireland and we are confident that this free information session will offer high-value resources to everyone who comes along.”

The information session on Saturday will encourage networking between remote workers, employers and locals, and those interested in working remotely in the future are especially welcome. It is also perfect for local organisations or state bodies hoping to learn more about preparing and training employees or job seekers in remote working opportunities. All are welcome to get involved and come along on the day.
