A special guest will be Tenor, Willie O’ Brien.

All in tune for concert in Roscrea

St Cronan’s to benefit from fundraiser

Now is your last chance to purchase tickets for the gala concert featuring the Ormond Octaves Choir and Glór Tíre winner Aishling Rafferty to be staged in the Catholic Church in Roscrea on this Friday night, February 17 (8pm).

The concert will also feature Linda de Lewis and Rose Lineen, soloists from Saint Cronan’s Day Services, who gave truly amazing performances at the final rehearsals for the show held in the church on Sunday last. Their signing on the night is sure to wow audiences, as is that of the children from the four local primary schools for Roscrea who will be taking part: Scoil Eoin NS, Scoil Mhuire, Lismakin, Dromakeenan NS, and Gael Scoil Shlí Dála.

The Ormond Octaves is also delighted to welcome a very special guest, Toomevara tenor Willie O’ Brien whose wonderful singing has been one of the highlights of the concerts staged by the choir since its foundation in 2008.

For the Roscrea performance Willie has chosen to sing the beautiful and moving song ‘Anthem’ from the musical show, ‘Chess’. His performance is being eagerly anticipated, as is that of the choir itself who will sing many present day hits as well as old classics.

Aishling Rafferty, who is one of Ireland’s up and coming young Country singers, will treat those in attendance to numbers such as Song for Ireland and The Old Rugged Cross, in a show where the former Tipperary hurler and two times All Ireland winning manager with the Premier County, Liam Sheedy ‘togs out’ once more to be Master of Ceremonies.

Of course, none of the above could happen without the unwavering dedication of Ormond Octaves founder Niamh Ryan who has spent months working to ensure that this will be a show to remember.

The funds generated from the concert will be donated to a very worthy local cause, St Cronan’s Day Services, which run centres for adults with special needs in Roscrea, Nenagh and Birr. A huge thanks also to the organiser of the concert, Mary Frend, whose efforts have been unstinting, and to all who have purchased tickets to date.

Tickets (€20) for the concert are currently available at the Parish Offices in Roscrea, Birr and Templemore. They are also available in the Cinnamon Alley café in Nenagh and in The Bookworm in Thurles.
