Sailing club's successful fundraiser for RNLI

The sun was shining, the wind was blowing and the music was fantastic for Garrykennedy Sailing Club's fundraiser for the RNLI.

Over €2,000 was raised by the club, which on the day collected €1,855 for the RNLI.

Over 20 keel boats took part in the annual Visitors Cup sailing race at GSC. Boats from Iniscealtra Sailing Club (ISC) and Lough Derg Yacht Club (LDYC) took part in the race, which was won by 'Forever Amber', a LDYC boat skippered by Ann Barrington and Josh St John.

Commodore Declan Moore presents the Visitors Cup to winners Anne Barrington and Josh St John.

At the trophy presentation, a barbeque was provided courtesy of GSC in the beer garden at Larkins of Garrykennedy, followed by great music. The crowd were in high sprits while being entertained by the fantastic No More Mossies in the glorious sunshine; later a great music session started with the Larkin/O’Connor gang.

A big thank you to all the committee members, who really pushed the boat out to make the day a huge success. We would also like to thank Larkins bar, Ciss Ryan's bar, all the musicians and most importantly thanks to all who contributed to the RNLI and made it a special day.

Entertainment on the day was provided by the band No More Mossies - Shane Connolly, Noel Geaney, Ger Carey, Sean Geaney, Gerry O’Rourke.
