Arson attack under investigation

Gardaí in Nenagh are investigating a case of arson after a van was burned out in a housing estate in the town in the early hours of Tuesday of last week.

Sergeant Declan O’ Carroll said the 2019 registered vehicle was completely destroyed in the incident. Gardaí are seeking information from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time and are examining CCTV footage.

Separately, Sergeant Carroll reiterated calls on people to be vigilant in regard to so-called phishing crimes after a local man had approximately €1,000 stolen from his bank account after he interacted with a message he received on WhatsApp.

Reports of dogs on the roam in fields with livestock in the Ballina area has prompted gardaí to remind owners of their responsibilities under the Control of Dogs Act.
