Gaelscoil Aonach tour to Cloughjordan

Turas Rang a 6 go Cloch an tSiúrdáin: Bhí lá gnóthach, éagsúil ag Rang a 6 le déanaí. We had a bumper packed active day recently in Cloughjordan with four fantastic focal points of interest as well as fantastic guides in each location.

We started our day with a visit to the Thomas MacDonagh Museum where May Casey and Paddy Williams gave us a very informative guided tour of the museum and showed us many historical artefacts.

We then headed to St Michael & St John’s Church to view the amazing Harry Clarke and Eva Hone stained glass windows. May Casey once again provided great background and pointed out the intricate details within. A tour of Eco Village with Annmarie Nugent and Mark Doris, trí mheán na Gaeilge, provided us with a very graphic insight into sustainable living and environmental care. We timed our visit perfectly to see the weekly delivery of freshly harvested vegetables from the eco-village’s farm.

Lastly, we visited the site of Modreeny Ambush where local historian Ger Heffernan gave us a description of the ambush which happened a hundred years ago.

Ba lá iontach staire, cultúrtha, ealaíne agus eolaíochta é. Gabhaimid buíochas lenár dtreoraithe uilig.
