Covid numbers still rising

Nenagh's rate of Covid-19 infection is above the national average.

Latest figures for newly confirmed cases of the virus show increases in all Local Electoral Areas (LEAs) of North Tipperary. In Nenagh the case numbers increased from 103 to 136 between the period August 3-16 and August 10-23. Thurles saw the biggest increase from 69 to 139; it also has a rate of infection higher than the national average.

Newport LEA saw an increase from 63 to 82, while in Roscrea the number of confirmed cases rose from 30 to 52.

Clonmel had the highest number of new cases in County Tipperary, with some 227 confirmed cases of Covid-19, a major increase on the 39 recorded in the previous fortnight.
