Motor tax offices to re-open - changes to council services

Direct access to the council’s Civic Offices in Clonmel and Nenagh, and Municipal District Offices in Carrick-on-Suir, Tipperary and Thurles will be available via the customer service desks and receipts offices only from Monday, August 9.

Motor tax offices in Clonmel and Nenagh will also re-open.

While revised customer service arrangements will be in place in each building, customers may experience some delays owing to physical distancing restrictions in place and we would encourage customers to make an appointment with the appropriate section in advance if possible. All members of the public are advised to wear face coverings when entering the council buildings.

Information on all council services can still be accessed online at www.tipperarycoco.ie and every effort should be made in the first instance to contact the council by telephone – 0761 06 5000, post or email to customerservices@tipperarycoco.ie and restrict face to face meetings if at all possible.

Poetry Ireland has announced details of Poetry Town, a new initiative, which will see more than a hundred free poetry-related activities take place in 20 towns across the island of Ireland between September 10 and 18 2021. Carrick-on-Suir in Co Tipperary will be among the Poetry Towns, with activities for the town being organised by Poetry Ireland in partnership with Tipperary County Council Arts Office.

As part of the initiative, Poetry Ireland, together with its local authority partners, will appoint a Poet Laureate for each participating town. The chosen Poet Laureates, who will either be from the respective local area or have strong connections with it, will be commissioned to write a poem honouring their Poetry Town and its people. The Poet Laureates for each town will be announced next month.

Each poem will be revealed and presented to the people of the participating towns at a series of flagship online events, one of which will be hosted in each town, which will feature contributions from local poets, artists and musicians.
