A development group is working with Cllr Bugler on the proposed statue.

Ború statue for Ballina

Plans are in train to provide a statue of Brian Ború on the new Ballina-Killaloe bridge over the Shannon.

Local councillor Phyll Bugler told a meeting of Tipperary Co Council that she is working with a development group on the proposed statue. Speaking during a presentation on the Rock of Cashel at an online workshop for councillors last week, Cllr Bugler mentioned many of the stories around the High King of Ireland's birthplace, including that of the Graves of the Leinstermen site overlooking Lough Derg. She also told of a tunnel Ború was said to have built under the Shannon.

Cllr Bugler said the local group hopes to put the statue in place when the new crossing over the Shannon is built.
