TIPPERARY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Following the welcome news of progress in opening up the country from the recent Covid-19 lock down, the following is an outline of the revised FBD Insurance Co. Tipperary Club Championship dates as ratified at Co. Management Meeting on Wednesday June 24th.

The management committee put this plan in place to facilitate as many games as possible for our clubs.

  • The action will get under way on the weekend of July 18/19 with the first round of the FBD Insurance Senior and Intermediate Football championships.

  • The following weekend, July 25/26 will see the first round of the FBD Insurance Senior, Séamus Ó Riain and Intermediate Hurling championships take place.

  • Round 2 of the football championships will take place on the weekend of August 1/2.

  • The hurling championships will then take centre stage for the following weekends, August 8/9 and 15/16 when rounds 2 and 3 will be played.

  • The weekend of August 22/23 will see round 3 of the football championships going ahead. This then brings to a close all senior group stages in both codes.

  • The FBD Insurance Hurling Quarter-Finals as well as the relegation semi-finals will then take place on the weekend of August 29/30.

  • To facilitate the possibility of a dual club reaching both hurling and football semi-finals, those games, for now, are scheduled for the weekends of September 5/6 and/or September 12/13.

  • The FDB Insurance Senior Hurling, Séamus Ó Riain and Senior Football relegation finals will take place on the weekend of September 12/13.

  • The FBD Insurance Senior Hurling, Séamus Ó Riain and Senior Football Finals will take place on the weekend of September 19/20.

  • The FBD Insurance Intermediate Hurling and Football Finals the following weekend, September 26/27.

  • The Junior Hurling & Football A & B Championships are being organised by Divisional boards. The divisional hurling finals are fixed for October 3/4, with only winners going forward to county semi-finals

  • The FBD Insurance Junior Football A & B Co. Finals will take place on the weekend of December 5/6. Note, divisional winners only going forward to county semi-finals.

  • The FBD Insurance U21 and Minor Football Co. Finals will take place on the weekend of November 21/22.

  • The FBD Insurance Minor Hurling Co. Final will be played on the weekend of September 5/6.

  • As the FBD Insurance U21 Football Championship has already commenced, this will have to reach its conclusion before any consideration can be made in relation to the U21 Hurling Championship. With that in mind any decision made in respect to that championship will be at the discretion of County CCC.

Co. CCC will meet early next week to draw the first round pairings for the various championships. Note, however, the first round draws for the football championships that are already made still stand

Best wishes to all our clubs in preparation for our FBD Insurance club championships.

NEW TIPPERARY GAA CLUBS DRAW

The first draw in the New Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw will take place on Friday 18th September. The venue will be confirmed nearer to the time. On a good note we have the receipts packed and on their way to all members this week with An Post. Within the envelope we have each member's;

  • Receipt from last year’s draw 2019-2020, plus a section to renew with their membership card for 2020/21.
  • Draw brochure (Personalised where requested)
  • A detailed leaflet with additional information on the New Draw date, plus different options how members can pay, and overleaf their clubs draw coordinator's phone number to make enquires.

On a regular basis clubs will be sent a full list of payments received in Lár na Páirce office by post, bank card or on-line, and these will be credited to your club account.

All clubs have now received their Club starter packs for the new draw. If clubs need any extra documents contact the office in Lár na Páirce and they will get them out to you. If there is a change of co-ordinator in your club please notify the office immediately with the contact details.

CÚL CAMPS

Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camps will commence in Tipperary on 20th July for six weeks to 28th August. This is a very welcome outcome in light of where we were and where we have come from. Clubs, parents and especially children can now look forward to some much needed on-field activity. Understandably some clubs have decided not to host a camp in the circumstances, and that is very reasonable. Clubs that are going ahead should have in place all protocols around 'Covid-19' for which documentation has now been released to all clubs.

Please check the following links for updates
GAA Covid resources and latest information: www.GAA.ie or https://learning.gaa.ie/covid19
Health Questionnaire available at:  https://returntoplay.gaa.ie.
GAA eLearning Awareness Module available at https://courses.gaa.ie/Covid19ClubEd/#/

Some important points to note are;

  • Club coordinators and assistants should complete the 'Covid-19' online awareness course prior to hosting the camp and have certification printed.
  • 'Covid-19' protocols around sanitation, cleansing and signage should be in place
  • All coaching staff attending camps will have completed a rigorous training program to ensure safe and professional running of camps.
  • All bookings for camps can ONLY be completed online.
  • There is NOT a requirement to cap numbers, but clubs can arrange their own requirement with Games Development staff.
  • Tipperary camps will have a policy whereby members of the hosting club ONLY attend the camp.
  • There will be strictly NO exchanging of kits
  • In line with GAA policy clubs are not entitled to run a camp prior to running a Cúl Camp
  • Clubs who wish to run a camp after completing a Cúl Camp must apply for permission to the County Committee

Games Development staff will be in touch directly with camp coordinators in the coming days. In the meantime for clubs hosting and participants attending we hope you all have an enjoyable and safe camp.

CLUB FUNDRAISING

Walk, Run, Cycle Upperchurch Drombane fundraiser:

The club has organised a fundraiser on Saturday the 27th and Sunday 28th of June for their new parish walkway around their grounds in Drombane. They'd love everyone to get involved and are asking all who can to "Walk, Run or Cycle" any distance, anywhere and donate to their go fund me page. They are hoping to reach a distance of 2150km which is equal to a trip around Ireland. Please text your distance to 0879665385. The hope is that all will have a safe place to walk, away from cars and other vehicles, once the walkway is completed around the field in Drombane. The local loop walks can be journeyed, the fields, driveways and around the world everyone can contribute. The fundraiser will benefit everyone in the parish and will provide a safe place to walk or run. You can donate online at www.gofundme.com/lap-of-ireland Envelopes will be left at Ryan's shop Upperchurch and Drombane Creamery for those not so au fait with computers and who just want to donate.

BORD GÁIS ENERGY GAA LEGENDS VIRTUAL TOURS

Tipperary star Eoin Kelly will be amongst the greats giving the public a unique insight into their hurling and football careers when they take part in this year’s Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Virtual Tour Series. Over the summer months Eoin will be joined by a host of other Gaelic Games legends who will be reliving some of their proudest sporting moments in conversation with the team at the GAA Museum.

With the GAA Museum remaining closed until June 29th and restrictions on gatherings still in place, the hugely popular Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series is going online and will continue to give fans a fascinating insight into these players’ careers and ongoing relationships with Gaelic Games. Similar to the traditional tours, the players will be interviewed by a GAA Museum tour guide about their career, giving people a tour through their earliest memories of playing Gaelic Games, lining out for club and county, their heroes and their Croke Park memories, with the public able to watch online.

Eoin Kelly captained Tipperary to the Liam MacCarthy Cup in 2010, the day the Premier County famously ended Kilkenny’s hopes of five All-Ireland titles in-a-row.

The Bord Gáis Energy Legends Virtual Tour series can be viewed on Bord Gáis Energy’s Rewards Club webpage bordgaisenergy.ie/my-rewards and the official GAA website gaa.ie and on crokepark.ie/legends
