The challenges will appeal to all those young people at home who might be missing their sports at the moment.

Cloughjordan group's fun online circus and soccer ball challenges!

This weekend should have marked Cloughjordan Circus Club’s 10th anniversary with a performance of Elephant! devised by the 50 members of the group and inspired by local oral history of when the circus used to visit the village in the early 1900’s

Those plans are on hold and instead this week Cloughjordan Circus Club will present the first of their weekly online circus and soccer ball challenges!

Circus Tutor, Maria Corcoran was keen to point out that everyone can join in. “We are focusing on creating instructional videos and fun challenges in a playful way with objects and equipment young people may have at home. So a piece of old rope for a skipping rope, make your own jugglling balls using lentils, sandwich bags and balloons, dust off that old hula hoop ….. and start having fun!”

Circus Director, Joanna Williams said: “We are also delighted that we are able to present some really fun soccer ball challenges to appeal to all those young people at home who might be missing their sports at the moment! We hope that we’ll give them a way to combat some of the feelings of isolation, boredom or anxiety that they may be feeling”

Simon Llywellyn is currently based with Sorin Sirkus in Finland and he has visited Tipperary to teach on a number of our Summer Camp Programmes. Simon was due to perform in Dublin as part of the UEFA Euro Soccer 2020 events programme … instead he’s going to teach us some of his madcap soccer ball skills via the magic of YouTube!”

This programme is made possible with support from Tipperary Art Office.

All the classes and challenges can be accessed for Free! Simply look for and subscribe to the YouTube Channel “Circus Club, Cloughjordan”
