County Board reveals finals dates

By Shane Brophy

Tipperary County Board are planning to play their showpiece senior hurling and football finals on the same weekend this year following the publication of the annual fixtures calendar at last weeks County Board meeting in Thurles.

Such is the tight timeframe for the completion of championships to be ready in time for Munster Championships, the County CCC have been forced to pencil in the two major finals for the same weekend.

The senior & intermediate football finals are down for Saturday 31st October with Sunday 1st November dated for the senior & Seamus O Riain Cup finals.

Fortunately, Tipperary have gained direct progression to the semi-finals of the Munster Club Championship in both senior hurling and football with the senior hurling champions home to the Waterford champions on Sunday 15th November while on the same day the senior football champions will be away to the winners of Cork or Waterford.

The intermediate football champions also have a little lee-way as they go straight into a semi-final at home to the Waterford or Clare champions on Sunday 8th November.

However, there will be pressure on the completion of the intermediate hurling and junior 'A' hurling & football championship after the Tipperary champions were drawn into quarter finals.
