Ormond in desperate need of derby cheer

RUGBY: Energia All Ireland League Division 2A Round 12

NENAGH ORMOND
v
CASHEL
Lisatunny
Friday 14th February
Kick-off @ 8.00pm
Referee: Glenn Sheridan

Nenagh Ormond will be hoping that the romance of a local derby will inspire them to a badly needed positive outcome when they host rivals in the second Tipperary clash of the season on Friday night.

It may be St Valentine's day but there hasn't been much love in the Nenagh performances of late, having lost night straight since winning and drawn their opening two games which feel like a long time ago.

However, twelve months ago, Nenagh were in a similar predicament towards the bottom of the table but a 10-10 home draw against Cashel kick-started a revival which saw them retain their status in division 2A.

They will hope that is the case again as the games are fast starting to run out in their attempts to make up the ten points to Ballymena which would guarantee they stay in the third tier. As it stands, they would probably take finishing second bottom and taking their chances in the promotion/relegation playoffs.

The 50-24 defeat to Old Crescent last time out was a low point for the squad but having three weeks to regalvanise themselves for the seven games that remain will hopefully stand to them as any positive result might provide the spark needed to climb up the table.

When the sides met in the first Tipperary derby in late November in Spafield, Cashel were comfortable 22-10 winners but since then have suffered a skid of their own and have fallen outside of the playoffs spots.
