Perhaps it was the fact they were only recently crowned North champions but Borrisokane needed a late late show in order to survive a second half scare from Grangemockler Ballyneale in an exciting County Under 21 'B' Hurling semi-final on Sunday.

Borrisokane needed four late points to earn a place in next Sunday's final where they will take on a strong Gortnahoe/Glengoole outfit. Indeed, the North champions will have to be much more consistent if they are to win because a repeat of last Sunday’s performance will not suffice.

A slow opening start saw them concede 1-1 inside two minutes but in fairness the deficit was quickly overturned as the North champions hit 1-10 without reply before the concession of three late points left them six to the good at half time.

The second half was a completely different story as Grangemockler/Ballyneale threw caution to the wind and whittled the lead back to the minimum until Borrisokane, with the help of important positional switches, saw them hit four unanswered points in the final minutes to seal the win.

Michael Heenan was one to lead the way with a great display, scoring 1-3 from play while he was involved in a number of other good moves. Jack Larkin played his part too although he missed two frees in the second half but yet should be happy with his days work. Padraig Quinn was another while Liam Cleary, Oisin Larkin, Conor Ryan, Daire Madden, Stephen Gavin and Dylan Slevin each contributed to the victory.

South champions Grangemockler/Ballyneale can be happy with their display. They came into the game as underdogs but James Daley, Leon Kennedy and Denis Hanrahan led the way. Hanrahan was inspirational but the pity was he only made an appearance after 25 minutes as he wasn't able to start due to a hamstring injury.
