Nenagh Ormond fell to their first home defeat in this seasons All Ireland League as Buccaneers left with the four points with the home side scoring a late try to earn a losing bonus-point.

Both sides came into this fixture with one win each from the previous rounds and it was the visitors greater desire that got them their second win.

Nenagh will rue some defensive lapses and poor decision making, particularly early in the second half, when they conceded two tries in a 5-minute spell, which ultimately left them with too much to do to get the win.

While Nenagh had previously played in Athlone in an annual McCormack Cup fixture, this was the first ever fixture between Nenagh and Buccaneers who were formed as an amalgamation of Athlone & Ballinasloe when the All Ireland League commenced, and play their home matches in Dubarry Park.

Nenagh’s pack showed two changes from the loss to MU Barnhall with Aaron Hennessy replacing the suspended John Healy at hooker while Jake O’Kelly started in the second row, with Keith Quigley moving to No.8 replacing injured captain John Hayes with both Healy and Hayes proving to be big losses.
