Last Saturday turned out a disappointing day for all local rugby followers, as having watched a poor Irish performance against New Zealand at the World Cup in the morning, Nenagh Ormond fell to a late defeat to MU Barnhall in Leixlip.

Undefeated Nenagh were going to be up against a MU Barnhall side whom had started the season with two wins and on the back of 18 undefeated league games from the previous season when they won Division 2B so were on a roll to make it 21 consecutive games without a loss.

Nenagh started brightly and Conor O’Brien, returning from injury, landed two long range penalties inside the opening five minutes, to race into a 6-0 lead.
