Quinlivan to miss Tipperary's 2020 campaign

Tipperary's attempts of immediate promotion out of division 3 of next years National League have suffered a big setback with star forward Michael Quinlivan confirming he won't be part of the panel in 2020.

The 2016 All Star full forward confirmed he will take a year out next year to go travelling with new Tipperary manager David Power confirming that this was in the offing for a couple of years.

When I was going for this job I knew that was the case,” Power revealed.

To be fair to Mikey he has been on about it for the last couple of years. I know him since the minor days, he is doing it for himself and that's important, so hopefully he'll be back in 2021.”

Power confirmed that he is putting the final touches to his first panel and is looking and trialling up to 50 players with no other departures expected with Philip Austin and Brian Fox set to go for another year.

That will be important in negating the loss of Quinlivan, as well as Tipperary attempts to get out on division 3 of the National League and avoiding being part of the first ever Tier 2 championship in Gaelic Football which was voted in earlier this month.

We have got two opportunities, either be in the top 2 in division 3 or get to the Munster Final,” Power said.
