LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL
Congratulations to the brilliant Tipperary ladies football team and their management team led by Shane Ronayne, who were victorious in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Ladies Football Championship final in Croke Park, last Sunday, defeating Meath 2-16 to 1-14 to take their second title in three years. Goals from Angela McGuigan (Grangemockler) and Aisling McCarthy (Cahir) were crucial, while Aisling Moloney (Cahir) was outstanding once again scoring eight points on her way to receiving the Player of the Match award.
The team were welcomed home on Monday night by jubilant supporters to Ardfinnan, hometown of team captain Samantha Lambert.
CLUB FIXTURES
The FBD Insurance County Tipperary senior, intermediate and junior football championships were the focus of attention at county level in the past week as the group stages came to a close.
In the FBD Insurance County Tipperary senior football championship the top seeds and group winners through to the quarter finals are - Clonmel Commercials, JK Brackens, Loughmore-Castleiney and Moyle Rovers. Runners up are Arravale Rovers, Ballyporeen, Cahir and Upperchurch-Drombane. The following then are the quarter-final pairings to be played on the weekend of September 28/29. On Saturday 28th Loughmore-Castleiney v Arravale Rovers in Cashel at 3:30pm. Then on Sunday 29th at 12:30pm JK Brackens v Upperchurch-Drombane in Templetuohy. At 2pm which in the first of a double header in Ardfinnan, Clonmel Commercials and Ballyporeen meet, while Moyle Rovers and Cahir line out against each other at 3:30pm.
In the FBD Insurance County Tipperary intermediate football championship the top seeds are Golden-Kilfeacle, Clonmel Commercials, Rockwell Rovers and Drom-Inch. Runners up are Moyle Rovers, Moycarkey-Borris, Clonmel Óg and Clonoulty-Rossmore. The quarter final parings again on the weekend of September 28/29 are as follows. On Saturday 28th there is a double header in Cahir where Clonmel Commercials and Moyle Rovers meet at 2pm, followed by the game between Rockwell Rovers and Moycarkey-Borris at 3:30pm. Elsewhere, on Saturday, Golden-Kilfeacle and Clonoulty-Rossmore meet at 2pm in Cashel. Then on Sunday September 29th, Drom-Inch meet Clonmel Óg in Clonouty at 12 noon.
The quarter final pairings in the FBD Insurance Seamus Ó Riain Cup have also been made and are as follows; Holycross-Ballycahill v Carrick Swan, Mullinahone v Silvermines, JK Brackens v Ballingarry and Templederry Kenyons v Cashel King Cormacs.
On the county scene this Saturday, September 21st, in the FBD Insurance County Junior (A) Football Championship Group 5 Playoff - Rd 1 in Cloneen, Clerihan play Ballingarry with the winners meeting Boherlahan-Dualla in the playoff final next Wednesday, September 25th in New Inn at 7:30pm.
At divisional level, the Clonmel Oil South Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final saw victory go to Mullinahone on Sunday evening last when they defeated Carrick Swan 1-18 to 1-16.
The next divisional senior hurling final is this weekend as the Tipperary Co-Op West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final goes ahead on Sunday next, September 22nd in Bansha where Clonoulty-Rossmore and Éire Óg Annacarty-Donohill line up at 3pm.
Also, this Sunday September 22nd, in the Centenary Agri Mid Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship both semi-finals are down for decision in Holycross. First up its Moycarkey-Borris and Upperchurch-Drombane at 2pm followed by the meeting of JK Brackens and Drom-Inch at 3.45pm.
The Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals go ahead on Sunday next as well, as part of a double header in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh. Kiladangan and Templederry Kenyons are first into action at 2pm while Borris-Ileigh and Burgess meet at 3.30pm.

Tipperary Hurler of the Year – Voting Now Open
What a summer it has been for Tipperary hurling. The Premier County's 28th All-Ireland Senior Hurling title was achieved following a deserved win over Kilkenny in Croke Park, while six days later in the LIT Gaelic Grounds, our U20's defeated Cork to win the inaugural U20 All-Ireland Hurling title, great days indeed to be a Tipperary hurling supporter.
As the intercounty season has ended, the time has come to select the Tipperary Senior Hurler of the Year. Who will succeed Jason Forde to win the 2019 award? Voting is now open and is exclusive to 2019 members of the Tipperary Supporters Club.
Members of the Tipperary Supporters Club can vote by emailing info@tippsupportersclub.com and simply providing the name of your selection for Tipperary Hurler of the Year.
Voting will remain open until the end of September. The winner will be announced in October.

POST PRIMARY ACTION
This week sees the new season of Munster Post Primary Schools competitions get under way. The Dean Ryan Cup hurling commenced on Monday and unfortunately it wasn't the best of starts from a Tipperary perspective as Nenagh CBS lost out to CBS Midleton on a 4-23 to 4-11 score-line. This Wednesday, September 18th, Thurles C.B.S and De La Salle College Waterford meet in Clonmel at 1:30pm.
WHEELCHAIR HURLING
The Munster leg of the Wheelchair hurling league took place at St. Mary's Secondary School, Newport, last Saturday where teams from the four provinces took part in the event.
Newport GAA Club was involved in the organising of the event through Cora Moroney and they also provided a guard of honour for the visiting teams through their underage players. This was very much appreciated by the visiting teams and the organisers of the event. Kevin Cusack, Principal of St. Marys School facilitated the event taking place in his school and provided great assistance in the lead up to the event. The organising committee wish to thank James Collins Chairperson, Newport GAA Club, Tim Floyd Secretary of Tipperary County Board and Ger Ryan Vice Chairperson Munster Council for taking the time to visit the event on Saturday and speak to the teams and visitors. They also thank Tipperary senior hurler Sean O'Brien and Limerick camogie players Niamh and Judith Mulcahy from nearby Ahane for visiting the school during the event.
The event was an outstanding success and all visiting teams and supporters were gracious in their praise of the welcome and hospitality provided in Newport.
HANDBALL
Tipperary contested six All Ireland 60x30 doubles semi-finals last weekend, winning three and losing three. The wins came from Billy and Pakie Mullins in DMAD, Willie Bourke and Brendan Ryan in GMBD in Ballina and John Ferncombe and Sean Maher in the Junior Doubles. The losses unfortunately came in RMD for Paddy Collins and Jim Ryan, in SMBD for John Kennedy and Joe Ryan and in the MAD for Paul Mullins and Eddie Farrell.
Through to All Ireland Finals also are Sinead Meagher and Laura Shinnors in LID and in the GMAD are Kevin Mullins and Adrian Johnson.
The Juvenile All Ireland semi-finals against Leinster take place on Sunday next September 22nd, where Tipperary are involved in four semi-finals. In Cullen, Cork at 11am, BU16S Tipperary (Rory Grace) v Kilkenny (Billy Drennan). In Broadford, Limerick at 11am, BU14S Tipperary (Ryan Gillick) v Wexford (Conor Creane), GU14S Tipperary (Emma Williams) v Wexford (Jodie Keeling) and BU17S Tipperary (Patrick Delaney) v Kilkenny (Tom Carroll). HEALTH AND WELLBEING
Cashel Arts Festival have a very interesting play about GAA, hurling, male identity and mental health and it's on this Thursday, September 19th at 8.30pm in Cashel Handball Club. Apparently, this play has had a successful run at the famous Edinburgh Festival.
This is the time of year when clubs start organising talks for members and the wider community during the winter months. HEALTHY CLUB CONFERENCE
The role played by GAA clubs in supporting the health and wellbeing of communities across Ireland will be explored at the 2019 Healthy Club Conference in Croke Park on Saturday, October 5th.
Delegates will participate in workshops covering mental health in sport, diversity and inclusion, positive aging, and the importance of physical activity. The themes will be brought to life through practical case studies revealing initiatives rolled out by Healthy Clubs covering these themes.
The event, proudly delivered in partnership with Healthy Ireland and Irish Life, will see a further 84 GAA clubs across the 32 counties receive official recognition as ‘Healthy Clubs’, having completed Phase 3 of the project. Congratulations to two Tipperary clubs, Lorrha-Dorrha and Newport, which completed Phase 3 of the Healthy Club Project and will receive official recognition at the conference.
The conference will also see the launch of Phase 4 of the award-winning Healthy Club Project, as the GAA seek to recruit another 150 clubs to participate come January 2020.
Renowned GAA coaching tutor, Paudie Butler, will discuss in his keynote address how the development of the child – including their wellbeing – lies at the heart of all good coaching and is fundamental to the principles of the Healthy Club Project.
You will also hear from GAA ambassadors Noel McGrath and Nicole Owens. Workshops will cover: Mental Fitness, Physical Activity, Positive Ageing, and Diversity and Inclusion #gaahealth

STARS IN THEIR EYES
The Tipperary GAA Supporters Club is hosting a fundraiser for the Tipperary Senior Hurling All Ireland Champions 2019 and Camogie Team by staging “Stars in Their Eyes” at The Dome, Semple Stadium, Thurles on Saturday, November 9th.
The evening will be compered by the very high-profile sports presenter Marty Morrissey and celebrity judges will include sports pundit and ex Tipperary goalkeeper Brendan Cummins, TV, Radio and entertainment personality Mairead Ronan and Tipperary country singer Louise Morrissey.
