Planning refusal for Nenagh gates

Tipperary Co Council has refused planning permission for the construction of internal entrance gates bounding a new residential development in Nenagh.

Baile Ard Developments Ltd sought permission for the gates having previously received planning for 28 houses on a site off upper Silver St/Ciamaltha Road at Silver View.

The council expressed concern over the presence of a Protected Structure, nineteenth century Silver View House, and “any loss of curtilage listed traditional masonry walls”. The council considered that the proposed gates “would result in an adverse impact to a heritage asset through loss of historic masonry boundary wall… the proposed development would set an undesirable precedent for similar development of this nature and would be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area”.
