Camogie Semi-Final pairings to be known this weekend

By Rose Mannion

Last weekend didn’t throw up any surprises in the second round of the County Senior Camogie Championship with the predictable enough results.

This Friday sees the final round of games to determine the four semi-finalists.

GROUP 1

Eire Og Annacarty v Silvermines in Annacarty on Friday 6th September @ 6.00pm

After a great first round win over Clonoulty/Rossmore, Annacarty were brought back down to earth when they bit the dust to Burgess/Duharra. A win here should be enough for this young group to reach a second successive semi-final.

Silvermines are having no luck this season and have yet to register a point having lost to Burgess/Duharra and Clonoulty/Rossmore. They still could reach the knock out stage but a lot depends on other results. Verdict: Eire Og Annacarty.

Clonoulty/Rossmore v Burgess/Duharra in Clonoulty on Friday 6th September @ 6.00pm

Clonoulty/Rossmore finally got out of the traps and earned their two points last weekend with a hard earned victory over Silvermines. Their campaign to date hasn’t worked out as they would have wanted but they are still in with a chance of reaching the semi-finals but need to beat the champions in what is a repeat of last years County final. Verdict: Burgess/Duharra.

GROUP 2

Cashel v Drom & Inch in Cashel on Saturday 7th September at 12 noon

With Nenagh having lost both their games so far, both Cashel and Drom are through to the semi-finals with this game determining who finishes top of the group.

Cashel are shaping up to be a good team and already have impressed for their first year back in this grade. They won’t be found wanting so won’t go down without a fight either. Verdict: Drom & Inch.
