Burgess/Duharra once again excelled with a massive victory over Eire Og Annacarty in round 2 of the County Senior Camogie Championship on Friday evening.

It appears to be more of the same for the seven-time defending champions but a hugely disappointing game for Annacarty who clearly hadn’t expected to go down on such a margin of defeat after their victory over their neighbours Clonoulty/Rossmore the previous week.

It wasn’t a case that Annacarty couldn’t keep up or indeed just went through the motions, far from it with a hard working performance. Annacarty played their hearts out, just couldn’t get the scores on the board when it mattered.

New men at the helm Jimmy Maher and J.P. Grace, had the defending champions well and truly primed and they displayed why they are champions for seven consecutive years.

Annacarty had the best possible start though when Sinead Buckley rattled the Duharra net in the opening minute after, Siobhan O’Neill dropped a free to the forwards and Buckley did the rest.

However, the glory was short lived as Duharra had the ball back up the field and their sharp shooter Eimear McDonnell fired low past Annacarty net-minder Aoife Butler and the sides were level for the one and only after two minutes.
