Burgess and Templederry clash in the O Riain Cup semi-final this Saturday

Key promotion and relegation games this weekend

While the two County Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals take much of the limelight next weekend, there are also a number of key games for those that will aim to challenge for top honours in 2019.

Saturday sees the semi-finals of the Seamus O Riain Cup where the winners of both games guaranteed to progress to the Dan Breen Cup next year, while also progressing to the O Riain Cup final which will be the curtain-raiser to the senior decider on Sunday, 21st October.

The first semi-final is an all Mid affair as Moycarkey-Borris take on JK Brackens at the Ragg (2.00pm) while the second semi-final is an all North affair as Dolla hosts the meeting of Burgess and Templederry Kenyons (2.30pm)

The first of the Dan Breen Cup relegation semi-finals takes place this Sunday also with Carrick Swans meeting Mullinahone in Monroe with the loser dropping into the O Riain Cup. Portroe face Killenaule in the second playoff game the following weekend.

Kiladangan also face a key relegation games this weekend in intermediate hurling and senior football. Firstly on Saturday, they face off against Arravale Rovers in Kilcommon where defeat for either side will see them drop to junior 'A' level, however a draw will be good enough for Kiladangan to survive on score difference.

On Sunday, they meet Eire Og Annacarty in the senior football relegation semi-final in Drombane with the winner surviving for another year while the loser will then face the loser of the Drom & Inch v Galtee Rovers semi-final in the relegation final.
