Liam Sheedy

Eager Sheedy ready to get going

They say you should never go back but the tug at the heart strings was too big for Liam Sheedy to resist.

When Michael Ryan stepped down as Tipperary senior hurling manager in early August, Sheedy was immediately linked to the position, as all previous All Ireland winning managers are.

On the Sunday Game, he as good as ruled out the possibility of returning to the fold where he was so successful between 2008 and 2010, winning a National League, 2 Munster titles and finally breaking Kilkenny's stranglehold in style in 2010 in winning the All Ireland.

However, he didn't say no to coming back and as the weeks went by, the idea of coming back was growing at the back of his mind and with work commitments with Bank of Ireland becoming more favourable, he made the approach to the selection committee just over two weeks and from there the rest is history.

“I probably haven't felt as good in years as I have in the last few days since I made the decision,” said Sheedy who looks as enthusiastic as he was the day he was appointed manager for the first time in late 2007.
