Siobhan O'Doherty crosses the line to win the Tipperary Women's Mini Marathon

O'Doherty takes the honours once again at the Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon

The weather held, for the 600 participants who took to the roads of Thurles to complete the Tipperary Women Marathon on Sunday.

A wonderful atmosphere was created by Star Systems and an energetic warm up was lead by Aidan from Thurles Leisure Centre.

Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council Matty Ryan addressed the participants before they made their to Jimmy Doyle bridge for the start.

The first lady back to enter the grounds of LIT Tipperary was Borrisokane AC athlete and previous winner of the event Siobhan O'Doherty in a time of 36.20, followed by Thurles' Sharon Cleere in 38.04. Third place went to Aoife Burke from Vegan Runners UK (40.24) followed quickly by Aine Roche from Clonmel AC (40.41).

Thurles Crokes athlete Eileen McCullagh came home in fifth (42.08). There was a great battle for sixth place between County Footballer Samantha Lambert and Nicola Maunsell with both girls crossing the line in 44.02.
