Tipp need to stand up and be counted

GALWAY v TIPPERARY

Gaelic Grounds, Limerick

Wednesday 8th August

Throw-in @ 7.30pm (E.T.)

Referee: Sean Cleere (Kilkenny)

From a side so badly beaten by Cork in a Munster final, more than one change might have been expected in the Tipperary team to face Galway in this evenings (Wednesday) All Ireland Under 21 Hurling semi-final.

JK Brackens Lyndon Fairbrother has been recalled to the starting line-up after being dropped for the provincial decider, with Darragh Woods dropping out of the team and the match-day panel also.

Fairbrothers inclusion should guarantee a high percentage free-taker and Tipperary will need to take every chance they get to take down a Galway side that are warm favourites for this contest.

That Liam Cahill and his management team of Michael Bevans, John Sheedy, TJ Ryan and Seanie Corbett have decided that more or less the same team that underperformed massively against Cork goes ahead, provides the players involved a chance to redeem themselves.

It’s a massive challenge for them but if they come through and take Galway all the way, not only will it set them up for a rematch with Cork in an All Ireland final, but it would also suggest to whoever the next Tipperary senior manager will be that some of these players have the mentality to bounce back from adversity and offer something at senior level.
