North Tipperary Wheelers host Open 40km Time Trial:

On Sunday, the club held an Open 40km Time Trial at which there was a great turnout.

The event attracted some of the finest time trialists in the country and thus there were some incredible times set. The weather was fantastic with the route a testing 40km course with plenty of drags to contend with.

It was the current Masters World Time Trial champion Greg Swinand in the 50-54 category, sporting his rainbow stripes, that proved too much for the rest of the competitors with a blistering time of 51 minutes 45 seconds to cover the 40kms. Although he was kept honest as Newcastlewest CC man Paul Kennedy had an also fantastic time of just 52 minutes 36 seconds to take second place. And to round off the podium, NTW’s Eoin Woods managed to beat the current Masters 40 national champion Eoin Whelan to take third place with a superb time of just 54 minutes 37 seconds.

And it didn't finish there for our little club's success story, with Michael Crowe the only A4 rider in the field to break the hour mark and thus winning the first unplaced A4 category.
